Welcome to Second Grade!
Hello, Second Grade Students and Families:

I hope you are all well and excited for a brand new year in Second Grade! My name is Mrs. Christa Korjeski and I am thrilled to be your student’s teacher. It is my pleasure to welcome you all to my classroom where we will explore many thrilling topics with high expectations of great behavior and academic excellence.

A few things:

1. Label Belongings: Please label your students belongs such as clothing, backpacks, folders, lunch boxes, etc.

2. Supplies: I have provided your student with a pencil box filled with a 24-pack of crayons, pencils, erasers, and a highlighter. The school provides the students with glue, scissors, and additional pencils. You are welcome to bring any additional supplies if you wish. ☺

3. Korjeski Cougar Officer: Each week a new officer will be selected. This student will keep an eye out for good behavior, good friends, and all around fabulous students! They will assist me with any classroom jobs that week and be my right hand man or woman!

4. Folders: Students will be given two folders from me. One will be an extra paper folder that they will keep in school. This folder will hold any work that was not yet completed and can be saved for a later time. Another folder will be a homework folder. One side will be the “Take Home” where I please ask you to check each night and empty. These items can stay at home. The other side will be “Bring Back”. This side will contain items that may need to come back to school.

5. Newsletter: Each Friday you will receive a weekly newsletter. This will keep you informed with any important information, our specials for the next week, and weekly reminders.

6. Remind App: I will use the Remind App frequently to post any new and upcoming news. Sometimes this is a quick way to get information out to you all!

7. Test Folders: Your child will have a test folder with recently graded tests. I ask that you please sign and return these tests back to school.

8. Birthdays: Each student will have a chance to celebrate their special day in school if you’d like to. You may bring in a treat for the students if you’d like. We have 25 students in our class at this time. If your student has a summer birthday, we will have time at the end of the year where I will schedule his or her own special day!

9. Reading Folder: Students must read 20 minutes each school night. A book will be sent home each school night for your student to read on their level. Please document and sign your student’s reading log each school night. A grade will be displayed on your student’s report card for this. It is VERY important.
