Newsletter of the Week

December 10-14, 2018

Language Arts

*Our new sight words that we will focus on will be “with”, “he”, & “are”.

*We will work on blending all letter sounds to read three letter words.

*We have been doing a great job reading our little books.  These books contain sight words that children should be able to say without sounding out, since some of these sight words cannot be sounded out.  These books also contain what we call “blending words”.  These words we say each letter sound, to then blend sounds together to say the word.

*We will continue to learn how to Kid Write.  When students kid write, the goal is to have students listen for sounds in words, and write the letters.  I will write adult writing underneath students’ writing.   We will use sight words with our kid writing.  We will also do our best to remember a period, exclamation point, or question mark at the end of sentences.  Finally, we will try to remember to use a finger space in between words.

*Please see below if you did not read this in last week’s newsletter.

*I will not be writing the specials schedule on the monthly calendars until after the wintery weather ends.  Please refer to the acronym CAMPS-Computers, Art, Music, Physical Education/Gym, S.T.E.M. for the rotation.  I will also list the specials every week on the newsletter, but please remember if we are not in school due to weather the special class that was supposed to take place on that day will be held the next day we are back in school.

Important Information

*December 18-Polar Express Day.  Students may wear their pajamas.

*December 21 will be a half day.  Lunches will be served.  Students will be dismissed at 11:47.   (Christmas Party-feel free to send in a snack/treat for the class, please no peanut products due to allergies).

*School will be closed December 24-January 1.  School will open on January 2nd.
